The Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers is an international fellowship program at New York Public Library supporting academics, independent scholars, and creative writers (novelists, playwrights, poets).

15 Fellows will each receive the use of an office with a computer, full access to the Library’s physical and electronic resources, and a stipend of $90,000.

The Library expects Fellows to work at the Cullman Center five days a week, Monday through Friday, for the duration of the Fellowship term, which runs from September through May 2027.

This fellowship is open to U.S. and international academics, independent scholars, journalists, creative writers, translators, and visual artists working on projects in the humanities or social sciences.

Visual artists at work on a book project are also welcome to apply.
