The Hope Prize is a global short story competition offering a $9,000 USD prize pool, international publication with Simon & Schuster Australia, and the chance to be part of an anthology that supports a life-changing charity.
They welcome stories from writers everywhere — emerging or established — that explore the themes of hope, courage, or resilience in creative, diverse and unexpected ways.
Fiction or narrative nonfiction (including memoir) stories of a maximum of 5,000 words are eligible. (No poetry, essays, or academic writing.)
Prizes include:
- First place: $10,000 AUD (~$7,000 USD)
- Second place: $2,000 AUD (~$1,400 USD)
- Third place: $1,000 AUD (~$700 USD)
The winning entries and a selection of highly commended entries will be included in an anthology to be published by Simon & Schuster Australia.
Open to writers worldwide 18+.
Submit your work by the early deadline of Friday, July 31st.
