Conde Nast Traveler.
National Geographic.
BBC Travel.
TIME Magazine.
What do all these publications have in common, besides their iconic, global status?
These are the outlets that have said "yes" to my students.
I've been teaching travel media and journalism since 2020, and in that time, I've met and mentored numerous individuals who have gone on to have a career in travel media.
Nicole Melancon was writing on her blog for years before we met. She came to my class to learn how to work with publications and craft winning pitches.
Shortly after, one of her first-ever stories was published in BBC Travel, and it was a proud moment for her–and for me.
Today, Nicole works at GLP Films, an award-winning travel storytelling agency. Nicole recently traveled to Chile to work on the agency's newest campaign, in partnership with the Chilean tourism board. She calls my class the best investment she could have made in her career.

Christoffer Åhlén is another former student of mine who's now working in the industry. A London-based photographer, he's just published his latest story with Adventure.com about climate change and its impact on polar bears.

Many students like Nicole and Chris got their start in travel media by learning with me.
(Scroll down to the end to see what some of them have to say.)
So if working with travel publications is your goal this year, if you want to tell stories across the globe, and make travel a bigger part of your professional life, this is your chance.
