I’ve been thinking a lot about AI lately and what’s coming to all of us in the next few years.

Whether we believe in AI’s promise or its peril, one thing is clear:

The technology is already making things that humans make with their own hands and minds more expendable, obsolete.

🌱 This Earth Day, I'd be remiss not to mention the enormous strain AI puts on the environment, demanding copious amounts of electricity, water, and rare minerals, as highlighted by the UN Environment Assembly.

I want to hold on to our humanity. I want to cherish things that humans make, like stories and art.

I want to hold on to being around other humans.

As host Sam Fragoso recently said on the Talk Easy podcast dedicated to AI,

“If things made by humans matter to you, we’re going to have to show up for each other, and not just in the algorithm, but out in the world.”

This resonates with me deeply.

It’s one of the things I want to do more of at Going Places: show up for each other and stay connected, human to human.
