Opportunity type: call for pitches

This magazine runs stories about all things food: where it comes from, how it’s grown, who transforms it and how it’s a huge part of our daily lives.

If you’re a writer, photographer or illustrator with a great idea about how what we eat is mixed up with culture, creation, science and history, they want to hear from you.

For their next issue, the theme is “Food is War, Food is Peace,” and they want to know where that takes you.

Stories already commissioned include a feature about basmati rice’s fraught journey from paddies to pantries, a photo essay about a falconer hunting with her American kestrel to fight the spread of invasive starlings, and a Q&A with Buddhist nun and chef Jeongkwan Snim.

Assignments pay $1 per word (above average).

Any pitches or submissions that use AI will be rejected.
