Today, we're proud to announce that we've joined over 30 other independent publishers to collectively support one another in our month-long Fund Indie Media drive.

Why are we doing it?

Because it’s HARD being an independent publisher in 2025.

Media is shrinking. Journalists are leaving the field. Billionaires are blocking stories.

The only funding we can rely on is what readers like you contribute.

That’s what keeps us editorially independent AND financially independent, able to name the genocide of the Palestinian people, disrupt colonial narratives, and think critically about the role of travel in the world on fire.

And that’s important because MOST messages we’re getting online are coming from corporate interests or powerful political forces.

This is the media landscape we inhabit: over the last few decades, it has been consolidated into the hands of a few oligopolies that control both the platforms and the publishers of what we see, hear, and read.

All of this led us to team up with our fellow indie publishers for the Back Indie Media Drive, running all through September.

Our goal for this drive:

Get 20 new paid members to support our work. Just 20.
