A New Chapter Begins

I hope you had the most wonderful end of the summer season (here in the Northern Hemisphere).

We're back from our August break, which ran longer than expected.

(Paid members continued receiving their weekly updates throughout our hiatus).

We took more time off than planned in August because my life this month suddenly turned into chaos:

In the middle of my move from Chicago, my grandmother got hospitalized, and I quickly went from visiting her to becoming her full-time caregiver.

Deadlines for projects piled on, and new stories needed to be pitched and filed.

Selling furniture and wrapping up a long stint in the city was its own full-time job.

In the midst of it all, I was learning how to give myself grace, some days with more success than others.

But all storms eventually pass.

My grandma became better and returned home.

The furniture got sold, and all the boxes got packed.

The projects were completed, and I turned in the keys to my apartment last night.

As the evenings in Chicago turn cooler, a new season also begins for me:

After nearly a decade in this city and a quarter of a century in the U.S., it's back to the drawing board for a fresh start in Europe.
