I'm on my way to Europe today, and I can't wait to spend the next few weeks first at the inaugural France Media Forum in Normandy and Lyon, then at the Synergy Retreat on the Croatian peninsula of Istria.

If you happen to be in the same places at about this time, do reach out and let me know; perhaps we could get a coffee 😊

  • Sep 21 – 28: Normandy + Lyon, France
  • Sep 29 – Oct 3: Istria, Croatia
  • Oct 4 – Nov 10: Athens + Peloponnese + Crete, Greece

After my work trips in France and Croatia are over, I'm kicking into high-gear preparation mode for our upcoming writing workshop in Athens.

If you're not sure about the logistics of this trip, check out this quick guide to Athens in November.

🌍 In The World

The best olive oil in the world

That's a big claim, I know ;)

But it's true.

After I tasted this oil by Amelia Bilbeisi in Jordan a few years ago, I understood for the first time in my life what extra virgin olive oil should taste like.

Sadly, the majority of EVOO in our supermarkets is long past its prime. Before Amelia's oil, my palate didn't know any difference. Now, I can't do most of the 'oil' on the shelves.

Amelia presses her olives on a farm deep inside a desert in central Jordan. Her oil, Onsuri, is of ultra-premium quality, a coveted grade only five percent of the world’s olive oil producers meet.

Some time ago, I interviewed Amelia for our podcast.

In the episode, we got into how to discern good quality oil, what olive oil means to Jordanians, and why the SWANA region is not well known for its olives outside of its borders.

Meet the Woman Behind the World’s Top Olive Oil – In Jordan
Her family estate grows olives deep inside a Jordanian desert.

This Fall, Onsuri has introduced a very special harvest: just 250 tins of Nassouhi, a rare variety that has never been widely cultivated commercially.

Visit the ONSURI website to see these award-winning oils.

(And if you're interested in trying them, use code GOINGPLACES to get 5% off your purchase.)

"Every tree from the top producing countries like Italy or Spain can be traced back to the Middle East." – Amelia Bilbeisi

This segment is not sponsored. I just saw the news from Onsuri and got so excited that I wanted to share it.
